Partial removal of the nail and tissue
If you repeatedly have this problem on the same finger, your doctor might suggest removing part of the nail along with the underlying tissue (nail bed). This procedure could prevent that part of the nail from growing back. Your doctor will use a chemical, laser, or other method.
