Removal of the IUD is quick and easy. A healthcare provider gently pulls the cord, the IUD arms are folded, and it is removed. You may feel a little sore for a minute as it comes out.
There is a small chance that the IUD will not come out easily. If this happens, your nurse or doctor can use special tools to remove it. Very rarely, surgery is needed.
